Commonly known as fibreglass or waterproof casting, it is used in the treatment of acute fractures to upper and lower limbs.

The latest non itch casting materials are used in conjunction with waterproof Gortex under cast padding allowing the patient to bathe or swim without the need to cover the affected limb.

Lower limb casts can made as weight bearing cast where the patient wears cast boot which is required to allow for walking.

Synthetic casts are 50% lighter, more comfortable and less irritable than traditional plaster non waterproof casts.
